Veterans Day on November 11th has a sensible and meaningful history.  All major hostilities of World War I were formally terminated in 1918 on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.  Veterans Day was initially referred to as Armistice Day and was created to celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans.
